From the series 'Blackout': The story is set in Tskaltubo, a small resort in Georgia, and portrays the lives of Abkhazian refugees who took refuge there after the 1992 war in Abkhazia.

Mariam, a member of the third generation of refugees, was born in Tskaltubo. Initially, they lived in modest neighborhoods in immense abandoned buildings, once the epitome of luxury during the Soviet era. These buildings, former renowned sanatoriums, served as temporary shelters. The Georgian government recognizes the need and has recently established new structures specifically to house this community of Abkhazian refugees.”

Hossein Fardinfard (born in Iran in 1985) is an Amsterdam-based visual storyteller working in photography and videography.

Over time, his work evolved into his current focus: portrait and especially moon photography. His portrait photography is in line with his previous work, while his moon photography represents a new area of research. This shift unfolded naturally as Hossein found his voice in photography, and in a sense it served as a response to the urge to turn inward.

Hossein has long been intrigued by the contours of the Earth and has a B.S. in Cartography, a B.A. in Information Technology and an MA in Geomorphology. Increasingly drawn to exploring the human mind, he studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, where he received his B.A. in Photography in 2022.
