Eddy Posthuma de Boer (1931–2021) was one of the most important photographers in the Netherlands. His career began in 1948 as a photo assistant at the ANP. In the 1950s he started making reports. Posthuma de Boer always continued to work as an independent photographer. He worked for a wide range of clients, including Het Parool, de Volkskrant, Time-Life, KRO-Studio, Avenue, Holland Herald and Sabena-Revue. He also did a lot of freelance work. Posthuma de Boer became particularly well-known because he was able to capture everyday life, both in the Netherlands and far beyond, in a non-obtrusive way. His portraits of artists are also notable: photos of writers, painters and musicians, including Nescio, Reve, Mulisch, Willem de Kooning, The Beatles and hundreds of others.
Posthuma de Boer's work can be found in the Fotomuseum Den Haag and the Rijksmuseum, among others.
