Cees Beuzekom has a keen eye for recording daily life and is an expert in nature. He looks for the special in the general and thus makes the invisible visible. This often results in abstract aesthetic images that are striking for their sharpness and detail, but also for stillness and alienation, sometimes almost artificial.
In December 2021 he graduated from the Photo Academy in Amsterdam with his autonomous project Nature + 1.
In this series he depicts that nature is the origin of everything and that we as humans are an inseparable part of it.
We mix nature consciously and often unconsciously with our lives.
We can especially learn from nature by adopting and applying smart elements from nature (biomimicry). Cees looks for the similarities in properties and form between nature and culture, which often merge. Instead of opposing nature and disrupting its balance, we would increase the quality of life by embracing nature more and recognizing our innate connection with nature (biophilia).
The magazine Pf (Professional Photography) of April 2023 contains an eight-page article with an interview about his work.
