Caspar Claasen (1975) is fascinated by extraordinary interactions between people, often individuals, and their everyday environment. How a seemingly mundane moment can become a short story when photographed – how an unplanned moment becomes so surreal, meaningful and aesthetic that it seems contrived. But it isn't.
Caspar Claasen is a visual artist (Gerrit Rietveld Academy) from Amsterdam. His work consists of drawings, paintings and photography and has been exhibited and awarded several times. His work has been published by Harper's Magazine, Het Parool, ZEIT Magazine, Trouw, De Correspondent, NRC and many others.
